COLLEGE OF THE OZARKS ROBERT W. PLASTER SCHOOL OF BUSINESS INDUCTS 19 STUDENTS INTO SIGMA BETA DELTA HONOR SOCIETY

POINT LOOKOUT, MO. — College of the Ozarks Robert W. Plaster School of Business inducted 19 students into the Sigma Beta Delta International Honor Society on April 30.

Sigma Beta Delta is an international honor society for business, management, and administration students at accredited institutions, encouraging high scholarship and academic achievement. Membership is by invitation only for students ranking in the top 20 percent of their class who have completed over half of their business courses. Membership offers lifetime recognition, networking, and scholarship opportunities.

The following inductees:

  • Gabrielle Adair, junior marketing and public relations major from Van Buren, Arkansas
  • Isabella Autrey, junior marketing major from Willow Springs, Missouri
  • Andrew Esser, junior finance and accounting major from Kansas City, Missouri
  • Olivia Finch, junior business administration major from Shell Knob, Missouri
  • Ansley Fowler, junior business administration and culinary arts major from Jefferson City, Missouri
  • Emily Galioto, junior accounting major from Stow, Ohio
  • Kylie Irby, junior accounting major from Ozark, Missouri
  • Katey Kidd, senior business administration and piano performance major from Buckner, Missouri
  • Ava Kirkpatrick, junior accounting major from Peculiar, Missouri
  • Levi Wilson, junior accounting and finance major from Hanover, Maryland
  • Caleb Martin, junior marketing major from Branson, Missouri
  • Trent McDonald, junior finance major from Lindale, Texas
  • Etana Morse, junior marketing major from West Fork, Arkansas
  • Kim Nguyen, senior management major from Garland, Texas
  • Ryan Pense, senior business administration major from Rolla, Missouri
  • Cameron Peters, junior finance major from Liberty, Missouri
  • Alayna Royal, junior business administration and recreation and sports management major from Marthasville, Missouri
  • Caleb Voigt, junior accounting and finance major from Belvidere, Illinois
  • Kami Wells, senior accounting and finance major from Redwater, Texas

During the induction ceremony, Dr. Emily Emery, associate professor of business; Steven Fowler, associate professor of accounting; Dr. Autumn Moody, professor of business; and Dr. Ryan Douglas, assistant professor of business and commerce and public service division chair, each delivered remarks to honor the inductees.

“This year’s class of inductees were one of the largest groups in the history of the business department,” said Emery. “We attribute this to the hard work of our students, the rigorous standards within our department, and the overall support we receive from the College. We are very proud to serve these students and can’t wait to see where the future takes them.”

Junior finance major Trent McDonald expressed the significance of being inducted into Sigma Beta Delta.

“It was an honor to be inducted into this organization alongside other high-achieving business students,” McDonald said. “Being a lifetime member will help me build community with other business professionals around the country and help me find a promising job in the finance field.”

Sigma Beta Delta traces its beginnings to June 19, 1986. The mission of Sigma Beta Delta is to encourage and recognize scholarship and accomplishment among students of business, management, and administration, and to encourage and promote aspirations toward personal and professional improvement and a life distinguished by honorable service to humankind.  Sigma Beta Delta was established to honor students who have attained superior records in business programs in colleges and universities with regional accreditation.

Membership in Sigma Beta Delta is the highest national recognition a business student can receive at a college or university with a Sigma Beta Delta chapter. To be eligible for membership, a business student must rank in the top 20 percent of the junior, senior or graduate class and be invited to membership by the faculty officers.

Today, over 400 chapters have been established in 47 states and internationally and over 80,000 members have been inducted to honor their high academic achievement in business, management, and administration.
