POINT LOOKOUT, MO. — The College of the Ozarks Chorale will perform as part of the Springfield Symphony season on Saturday, March 28. The C of O Chorale will perform Missouri composer Stefan Freund’s The War Amongst Neighbors: The Civil War in Missouri as part of a combined choir from Missouri State University, Drury University, and Evangel University. This moving, large-scale work for orchestra, chorus, and soloists includes Civil War-era songs, letters, editorials, and battle reports.

The concert will take place in the Hammons Hall for the Performing Arts on the Missouri State University campus on Saturday, March 28, at 7:30 p.m. Ticket prices range from $10 - $45, with discounts available for students and seniors. To purchase tickets, visit www.missouristatetix.com or call the Juanita K. Hammons Hall box office at (417) 836-7678.

Dr. John Cornish, chorale director and assistant professor of music at College of the Ozarks, believes the opportunity for these four local institutions to perform together is unique.

“For our students, performing with the Springfield Symphony is always an amazing experience because we get to combine with other choirs and a professional orchestra to make music in a way we could not alone,” said Cornish. “This year is especially exciting because we are performing a relatively new work that has special meaning to the state of Missouri and its history. Freund’s music is a delightful combination of Civil War–era folk songs and more modern settings of documents from that time period.”
