POINT LOOKOUT, MO. — College of the Ozarks will host the Chorale Concert on April 15 at 7:30 p.m. in Williams Memorial Chapel.
“We are performing two larger works to open the concert,” said Dr. Cornelius, director of the chorale. “However, the featured work is ‘Gloria’ by Antonio Vivaldi. ‘Gloria’ is a cantata Mass that was probably written somewhere between 1713 and 1717 for residents of the Ospedale della Pietà, one of four charitable institutions for the orphaned and abandoned girls of Venice. Vivaldi taught music to and composed for the Pietà’s girls.”
The concert will highlight five guest string instrumentalists from Springfield, Missouri, who are comprising our chamber orchestra for the performance of ‘Gloria.’ Featured student soloists include Jayla Holt, junior vocal performance major, Sophie Vickers, senior vocal music education K-12 major, Micah Arnold, senior music major, Lindsey Magnes, senior BT: Christian apologetics major, and Elena Torres, junior vocal performance major.
“The chorale is working tirelessly to become the best choral ensemble they can be, and we are thrilled to have the opportunity to share the student's talent and hard work with the campus,” Cornelius said.
