POINT LOOKOUT, MO. — College of the Ozarks will host a community blood drive with the American Red Cross on April 17, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at The Howell W. Keeter Athletic Complex.
According to the Red Cross, donors with all blood types are needed, especially those with types O negative, A negative, and B negative. Blood is a perishable product that can only come from volunteer blood donors. With someone in the U.S. needing blood every two seconds, blood products must be constantly replenished.
“College of the Ozarks partners with Red Cross to host blood drives to ensure that there is blood available for those who need it,” said Lori Simmons, community service coordinator. “It is a way that our students, faculty, and staff can love and serve our community. One unit of blood can save up to three lives. When you donate blood, you help patients of all ages who are dealing with an array of issues such as: having been involved in an accident, burn victims, cancer patients, and organ transplant patients. Blood donation has a vast impact on many patients in our community.”
