POINT LOOKOUT, MO. — College of the Ozarks hosted an Open House on Monday, Feb. 7, to showcase the renovations to Ashcroft Hall, one of the oldest women’s dormitories on campus.

At this event, curious staff and faculty members as well as students were welcomed into the dorm by the Ashcroft staff and given a tour of a dorm room, the main lobby, and kitchen.

Construction

Ashcroft Hall was under construction for the duration of 2021, starting shortly after residents moved out in May and ending in early Dec. A construction crew led the massive renovation, updating electrical and plumbing as well as surface level fixes.

The framework of the main dormitory areas was completely reworked, moving the kitchen to the lobby and turning old lounges into rooms for the resident assistants on each floor. All walls received a fresh coat of paint, bathrooms were updated, and new railings were placed in the stairwells.

Residents were excited to move back into Ashcroft and experience its new updates during the upcoming semesters.

“The modern style and updated lighting are the biggest differences from before the renovations. The stairwells are accented in lime green as well, so the whole space is just so bright and happy,” said Erin Renner, resident director of Ashcroft Hall.
