POINT LOOKOUT, MO. — The Alumni Association of College of the Ozarks hosted its annual service day named in honor of Dr. R. M. Good on Saturday, May 4, on the College campus.

During the 10th anniversary of Doc Good Day, 208 volunteers gave back to the College that has benefitted thousands of students with a debt-free education.

This service project included C of O alumni and their spouses, campus club members, and incoming students. Volunteers spent the day working on campus projects such as painting dairy barns, wiping down memorials, organizing archives, and helping prepare new residence halls for students.

“We had a wonderful crowd and our biggest year for participation in Doc Good Day,” said Angela Williams, director of alumni affairs. “It was special to see so many alumni return to campus and work alongside current and incoming students. As always, we are especially grateful to Jody Braswell, construction director, Darrell Back, construction supervisor, and David Lingner, landscaping director, for arranging fun and productive projects for our participants.”

Good served as president of The School of the Ozarks for 31 years. He embodied the concept of servant leadership during his tenure and carried The School through very difficult economic times.

“This event is a great way to keep in contact with the College while being able to give back,” said Brian Thompson, former alumni association president. “There’s plenty of work for all abilities and desires, from planting flowers to creating care packages for the incoming students. The highlight of the day is the interactions not only with alumni and sharing stories but also the fellowship with students.”
