Job Description:
Psychology Office’s hours of operation are 8 am to 5 pm, Monday - Friday during the semester.
The Psychology Department’s student workers assist the professors in the department with secretarial support, tasks, such as document creation, copying, grading, and student support services.
Primary duties and responsibilities:
Document creation,
Office organization and management,
Support for adjunct instructors,
Copy documents,
Proctor make-up evaluations (tests/quizzes),
Organize and run the department service project,
Be an active officer in the Christian Psychology Club and/or Psi Chi.
Secondary duties and responsibilities:
Basic cleaning: sweeping, mopping, dusting, taking out trash,
Routine problem solving for situations that may arise concerning the nature of the Psychology Department.
Basic Qualifications:
Need to have completed: PSY 103, PSY 152, PSY 152, PSY 183, and nine additional hours of psychology credit,
Need to have: confidentiality, honesty, and fairness. There is extra call for these qualities within the Psychology office due to the nature of the work done,
Phone skills: ability to communicate effectively, clearly, and with proper etiquette,
Have exposure to, if not proficiency in, computer programs such as, but not limited to, Internet Explorer, Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and basic functions of the campus internet.

Learning Objectives:
The student will:
Learn the department priorities and procedures,
Learn to work independently, and as a team,
Prioritize, take initiative and responsibility for daily activities such as grading, copying, mail delivery, birthday cake delivery, cleaning and other duties as assigned,
Review psychology principles and concepts experienced in their early courses by helping lower division students with their assignments and information retrieval projects,
Contribute to a positive, collegial environment that enables them to work effectively with fellow students and supervisors,
Gain proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Diploma and other software programs necessary for upkeep of grade books and inter-office projects,
Learn and practice professional telephone and office etiquette,
Recognize the value of and develop interpersonal and communication skills necessary to keep supervisors apprised of schedule changes and conflicts, assist professors in the classroom and to assist students seeking help,
Keep grades and other private matters confidential.
