Intramurals

Position Title:

Intramural Team Member

Required Schedule Flexibility

(1-5 scale with 5 as most flexible): 4

Job Description:

The Intramural Department is responsible for organizing, executing, and working all of the campus intramural activities, (i.e. volleyball, basketball, football, and softball experiences) and providing maintenance and governance of the Watson Student Center.

Primary duties and responsibilities:

Organize and assist in structured athletic events,
Officiate and score all intramural events,
Must understand the basic rules and regulations of football, volleyball, basketball, and softball,
Organize and execute mini-tournaments for the campus community
Have a basic knowledge of athletic game rules, scoring and organization.

Secondary duties and responsibilities:

General cleaning of the Watson Student Center facilities,
Some physical labor,
Any additional task is given by the work supervisor,
Assisting work supervisor on various campus tasks.

Basic Qualifications:

Respect of school equipment,
Dependability, promptness and strict adherence to the work schedule,
Be able to follow directions,
Have a servant’s mentality.

Desirable Qualifications:

Ability to work with others,
Develop leadership qualities,
Community building,
Sports minded,
Demonstrate responsibility to execute and complete tasks,
Take initiative.

Additional Remarks

The Intramural Department is special in what it provides physically and socially for the campus.  A great attitude in service to our students, staff, and guests is vital for inclusion in this department.

Learning Objectives:

The student will:
Be responsible for providing fair application of the playing rules during intramural competition,
Conduct themselves in a professional manner on and off the field,
Be expected to give 100% during every game,
Learn proper positioning, and the use of approved mechanics for successful IM events,
Learn how to set up and break down field/court events,
Learn the aspects of scorekeeping: checking in participants, keeping score of contents, and completing the necessary paperwork,
Develop leadership skills by monitoring and supervising intramural events, participants, officials, and scorekeepers,
Learn how to adhere to the policies and procedures of the intramural program,
Supervise the Watson Student Center and all its’ amenities,
Assist with the management of a comprehensive intramural sports program,
Assist with officials' clinics, training, and evaluation of all IM's activities,
Assist with program evaluation, revision, and implementation of all rules and policies,
Assist in staff, league, and tournament scheduling and management,
Assist in recruiting, training, and supervising of IM student workers,
Take a lead role in marketing and promotional activities,
Perform other duties as assigned.
