Keeter Center Guest Services

Position Title:

Guest Services Student Worker

Required Schedule Flexibility

(1-5 scale with 5 as most flexible): 5

Job Description:

The Keeter Center is open to the public 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  The Guest Services department is responsible for operation of the gift shop, front desk, 15 hotel rooms/suites, answering all incoming calls to the building and housekeeping of the building.

Primary duties and responsibilities:

Greet and take care of every guest that enters the building,
Answer all incoming calls and direct to requested department,
Keep building neat and clean at all times,
Clean hotel rooms in a timely manner,
Sell student-made products to the public.

Secondary duties and responsibilities:

Help in other areas of The Keeter Center if needed,
Ability to learn different job positions.

Basic Qualifications:

Maintain a friendly attitude,
Exceed guest expectations,
Knowledgeable about their job duties,
Follow all service standards,
Always arrive in proper uniform,
Dependable and flexible with work schedule,
Maintain uniform and personal appearance standards,
Accept instruction from supervisory staff and execute them to the best of your ability,
Ability to remain calm under pressure especially when there is a dissatisfied guest.

Desirable Qualifications:

Set a positive example for others,
Work consistently well with peers,
Leadership capabilities,
Pleasant personality and an interest in dealing with the public.

Learning Objectives:

The student will:
Demonstrate dependability by managing required hours, in proper uniform, knows and follows work place policies and procedures, and completing assigned tasks in an efficient manner,
Have a complete understanding on how to properly and safely handle departmental equipment, chemicals and blood borne pathogens,
Protect guests' personal belongings and guests' privacy,
Know lost and found procedures for guests items left in room,
Ability to work well with a team and individually while keeping a professional and positive attitude,
Maintain equipment and needed supplies, reporting to manager,
Demonstrate effective communication skills with guests, peers , and managers, recognizing the importance of confidentiality and workplace loyalty,
Develop a sense of urgency to work efficiently in a timely manner,
Know departmental emergency procedures and how to safely and calmly handle emergency situations,
Be prepared to assist guests by knowing the building layout and FAQ's about the Keeter Center and the College.
