Job Description:
The Dean of Students is open from 8 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday. The Dean of Students, the office assistant and the student workers are always willing to help anyone with their needs. This office exists to serve the C of O student.
Primary duties and responsibilities:
Receptionist and general office duties,
Make all student, faculty and staff ID cards,
Register student vehicles and enter all information on the computer,
Process and notification of all traffic fine appeals,
Process all information on convocation and chapel attendance, as well as assist students in clearing up their convo/chapel attendance problems,
Process all off-campus trips and death-in-family notices to instructors,
Responsible for creating the Character Camp T-shirts and brochures,
Assist the Dean of Students and office assistant with any assigned duties regarding Character Camp or anything else pertaining to new, incoming students both in the Fall and Spring semesters,
Assist with the many calls from new, incoming students, as well as their parents.
Secondary duties and responsibilities:
Assist, on occasion, with processing dorm refund forms,
Keep the office clean, which includes taking out the trash and keeping immediate work area neat,
Assist visitors who come into our building needing help,
Help with various special activities which occur throughout the academic year,
Maintain records of campus organizations.
Basic Qualifications:
Must respect confidentiality,
Possess good academic skills,
Computer skills (Microsoft Word and Excel knowledge a must, Microsoft Publisher knowledge a plus),
Dependable and respectful of others,
Pleasant personality, have the ability to talk to others and remain patient and calm in difficult situations.
Ability to work under pressure with deadlines,
Ability to multi-task while paying attention to detail.
Desirable Qualifications:
Sense of humor and get along well with co-workers and supervisor,
Pleasant telephone voice,
Desire to work in a very busy office.
Learning Objectives:
The student will:
Maintain and present a professional appearance and attitude while assisting visitors to the office,
Learn how to answer phone calls in a timely, professional, and courteous manner; as well as route calls to the appropriate office,
Learn a basic knowledge of the ID machine and be able to create student, staff, and faculty ID cards,
Learn how to register student vehicles, enter vehicle information on the computer and assist students with locating correct information regarding parking,
Learn how to process and notify students regarding traffic fine appeals,
Learn how to process all information regarding convocation/chapel attendance; as well as assist students with convocation/chapel attendance problems,
Learn how to process off-campus trip requests, medical consent forms, and absence notifications due to death in the family,
Learn how to design the Character Camp t-shirts and brochures,
Demonstrate a basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel,
Respect and observe confidentiality.
