Three students wearing Hard Work U sweatshirts

Rheanna Mulvaney

Rheanna knew as a young girl an education was essential to meet her goals. Watching her older siblings take on student loans, she soon realized she desired a different path.

“When I heard about C of O and the chance to work, rather than pay, for my degree, I knew this was the place I had to apply.”

Growing up in St. Louis, Rheanna learned some difficult lessons early on. Her father, who served in the United States Air Force, was diagnosed with cancer, and Rheanna learned to care for him. Rheanna was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease in high school.

Overcoming these obstacles instilled in Rheanna the resilience and strength that would guide her future steps.

Once at College of the Ozarks, Rheanna jumped in at every opportunity. From theatre performances to dorm sports, she built a community of friends rooted in the Christian faith.

“One of my favorite memories from college comes from being in the spring 2023 musical. I loved what we did, and I made lifelong friends on that stage. My best friend and roommate, Bailey, and I also love to attend Worship at the Barn. We also co-captained an Ashcroft flag-football team this past fall semester and became super close with our team.”

But her time at C of O has been far more than just fun, it has also been a chance to bolster her hard and soft skills.

“Working in The Keeter Center, as a hostess and barista, taught me hard work, time management, and professionalism. I learned that it is important to take responsibility and pride in my work, no matter how small it is. This gave me a great foundation for moving into the Alumni Office. Here, I worked on attention to detail, communication, and teamwork.”

Plant seeds of success.
