Staff helping students

The Vocation Center is committed to student success, and assists students with academic major/minor selection and the development of professional pathways. Additionally, we offer assistance with career assessments, résumés, cover letters, LinkedIn, and developing interview skills. The Vocation Center also helps students find part-time jobs and internships that will help them gain the necessary experience for future employment. Coaching with the director is available by appointment. 

Vocation Center hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM.

Vocation Center Director
Jim Freeman is the Director of the Vanek Center for Vocation and Callings at College of the Ozarks. He works with Faculty, Staff, and Students to help them understand a richer view of the biblical expression of our vocation and how we work and live it out through our callings. He co-developed two upper-level courses to assist students in transitioning out of college healthily. Jim earned a master's degree in Organizational Leadership at Evangel University and brings years of leadership development, transitional coaching, and knowledge within the corporate, non-profit, and private sectors to the college.

Sarah Williams is the Administrative Assistant of the Vanek Center for Vocation and Callings. An alumna of College of the Ozarks, she is happy to build relationships and provide guidance to students who come looking for it as well as the ones she supervises at the Vanek Center. Along with assisting the Director with logistical needs, she organizes the Career Expo, a large event designed to connect students with employers and graduate schools.

Student Associates
Ellie Trim is a Junior Finance major. She is enjoying her second semester in the Vanek Center and is excited to continue to work with students and help them prepare for their journey ahead. Abby Harrison is a Junior Public Relations major, with minors in Social Media and Christian Mission. As a student worker in the Vanek Center, she has enjoyed getting to work with her supervisors and co-worker to help students succeed in their vocation during and after college.
