** As part of our patriotic mission, College of the Ozarks is proud to have veterans and veteran's dependents as part of the student body.

College of the Ozarks is approved for certification of students eligible to receive educational assistance (GI Bill®) from the Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA). All students who receive benefits through the Department of Veterans Affairs are assisted by the College of the Ozarks Registrar’s Office.

Veteran Responsibilities

In order to comply with laws governing the GI Bill, it is your responsibility as a student to notify the Registrar of your status at the College which includes: when you add or drop a course, change your major, change your address, withdraw from the College, or need tutorial assistance.

  • The DVA will not pay for the repeat of satisfactory completed courses except under special circumstances.
  • If you do not make satisfactory academic progress and are suspended from the College, your GI Bill benefits cannot be resumed until you have met the College requirements for reinstatement.
  • Your benefits may be terminated if you do not comply with the regulations stated above.

When your admission to C of O is complete, please contact the Registrar's Office for an appointment in order to complete the process for continuing your GI Bill.

Student Verification of Enrollment

All GI Bill beneficiaries will need to verify their enrollment through text, email, Ask VA or phone. Detailed directions can be found online.      
 
NOTE: If you are a new student, it is important to allow enough time for the enrollment to be processed. If you attempt to verify enrollment before it is processed, you may receive a system generated message that VA has no record of the enrollment. During peak enrollment periods allow eight weeks for the processing of enrollments.

Address Change

Address changes made in the Registrar's Office will not change your address with the Veteran's Administration. To change your address with Veteran's Administration please call 1-888-442-4551.

Federal Tuition Assistance

Federal Tuition Assistance (FTA) is a Department of Defense (DoD) program that provides financial aid to eligible Active-Duty, National Guard, and Reserve Service members to help pay for voluntary off-duty post-secondary education programs. Amounts and annual caps are set by your Service. Eligible students must remain in active military status for the funded term and follow their branch's rules.  

How to apply:

  1. Discuss your options with your Education Services Office (ESO) or Education Counselor before the semester begins.
  2. Go to https://www.armyignited.army.mil and establish an account by clicking “Get Started” (CAC ID required).
  3. Request an Education Goal (select your school and degree program).
  4. Enroll in courses at C of O.
  5. Return to ArmyIgnitED and request Tuition Assistance for the selected courses. The request window opens 60 days before the start of the semester and closes 7 days prior to the start of the semester. You must make your request within the open time period.
  6. Contact the C of O Registrar's Office if you have questions regarding term dates. Contact Cash Accounts at C of O if you have questions regarding rate tiers.
  7. Once approve, print your FTA authorization found in ArmyIgnitED and bring it to Cash Accounts.

State Tuition Assistance

The Missouri Educational Assistance Grant provides tuition assistance for Service Members of the Missouri National Guard (MONG) meeting eligibility requirements.  

How to Apply:

  1. Apply for Federal Tuition Assistance first.
  2. Visit the MONG Education and Incentives page.
  3. Click Tuition Assistance.
  4. Click State Tuition Assistance (STA) for details about the program.
  5. Click Forms and Resources for a link to the State TA Application and How To Guide.
  6. Requests must be submitted no later than 8 days prior to the start of the term.
  7. The State TA Application includes contact information for the Missouri National Guard Education in case of questions.
