WAIT LIST

WHY AM I ON THE WAITING LIST?

Candidates are placed on the waiting list due to lack of vacancies. The first candidates to be placed on the waiting list are typically those who do not show as much financial need as others. Because the mission of the College serves students from the Ozarks region who demonstrate financial need and academic ability, candidates from within the region who show the most need are given priority on the waiting list.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE ON THE WAITING LIST?

It means that you may meet our minimum academic requirements, but we are unable to admit you because there are currently no vacancies. Your name is on a list and if there is a vacancy for which you qualify, you will be contacted.

HOW DO YOU RANK THE WAITING LIST?

The waiting list is managed just as the admissions process is managed, and that is according to the mission of the College. Students from the Ozarks region with the most financial need are given priority on the waiting list.

WHEN DO YOU RANK THE WAITING LIST?

We will rank the waiting list after the majority of the admissions decisions for the Fall semester are made, which is typically in mid May. You may call after that time to learn your approximate position on the waiting list.

WHEN WILL I KNOW IF I WILL BE CALLED FROM THE WAITING LIST AND OFFERED ADMISSION?

Circumstances which create openings are beyond our control (students who decide not to return, students who cancel admission, etc.). If we are able to offer admission to a candidate on the waiting list, it is done typically via phone, immediately after we learn of an opening. The latest a first-time student would be offered admission is the day before new student arrival.

WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR STUDENTS ON THE WAITING LIST?

We advise you to have your “Plan B” in place. Because no one is guaranteed admission, it is wise to have an alternative in place when you begin the admissions process. We advise you to be familiar with the refund policies of your “Plan B” institution in the event we are able to offer you admission. Feel free to show your interest in the College! We don't mind answering your questions!

I'M ADMITTED FOR THE JANUARY TERM, AND ON THE FALL WAITING LIST; WHAT ARE MY CHANCES OF BEING MOVED TO THE FALL?

Again, circumstances which create openings are beyond our control (students who decide not to return, students who cancel admission, etc.). If we are able to offer admission to a candidate on the waiting list, it is done typically via phone, immediately after we learn of an opening. The latest a first-time student would be offered admission is the day before new student arrival.

HOW LONG CAN I BE ON THE WAITING LIST?

We maintain the waiting list on an academic-year basis. For example, if you are on the waiting list for the 2017-2018 academic year, you will remain on the waiting list until the beginning of our January 2018 term. At that point, we purge the wait list, and if you are interested in seeking admission for another school year, you must reapply. Candidates DO NOT remain on the waiting list indefinitely.
