SUBJECT: SUMMER VEGETABLES HAVE ARRIVED AT THE C OF O FARMERS MARKET

Students Loran Wiley and Paytience Markle harvest sweet corn in preparation for the Farmers Market
College of the Ozarks holds a Farmers Market located in the Sale Barn on campus from 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. every Friday morning. It offers student-made and grown products for sale. The Market is now offering fresh summer vegetables in addition to the items available regularly, such as fresh milk, mill products and smoked meats.
Now students are harvesting sweet corn, tomatoes, peppers, squash, green beans, cucumbers, eggplant and melons.
“A lot of the varieties we’ve chosen will add color to the Market; the more color, the more it draws the eye,” said Eric Bright, Farmers Market manager.
Hardworking students planted and continue to harvest between two to 25 varieties of each vegetable.
“Our goal is to have 600 ears of corn per week for the next 10 weeks,” said Bright. Students working at Dobyns Dining Room in The Keeter Center also use the vegetables in numerous entrees.
