Dr. Gary Turbak, associate professor and head athletic trainer at College of the Ozarks, was recently honored at the 65th Clinical Symposia in Indianapolis, Indiana, on June 27.
He was named the 2014 NAIA-ATA Athletic Trainer of the Year by the NAIA-Athletic Trainers’ Association and also received the NAIA National Athletic Trainer’s Association‘s College/University Athletic Trainers’ Committee Athletic Trainer of the Year award for the NAIA.
Dr. Turbak is entering his 20th year as head athletic trainer at College of the Ozarks and serves as the athletic trainer for the School of the Ozarks High School.
“I am honored, humbled and grateful to be recognized for the average things I do every day,” said Dr. Turbak.
Active on the national level, Dr. Turbak serves as the head trainer/medical coordinator for the NAIA Men's Division II National Basketball Championship (2000-present). He served as vice president, president-elect, president and chairman of the board for the NAIA-ATA and received the NAIA Hall of Fame Meritorious Service Award in 2013.
