SUBJECT: C OF O THEATRE AND MUSIC DEPARTMENTS PRESENT “ANYTHING GOES”

By:  Charles Elliott

College of the Ozarks departments of theatre and music will present the spring musical, “Anything Goes,” at 7:30 p.m., on March 7, 8, 10 and 11. A Sunday matinee will begin at 2:30 p.m. on March 9.

Set aboard the ocean liner S.S. American, “Anything Goes,” stars nightclub singer evangelist Reno Sweeney, en route from New York to England. Her friend, Billy Crocker, stowed away following his love, Hope Harcourt, but Hope is engaged to the wealthy Lord Evelyn Oakleigh. Joining this love triangle on board the luxury liner are Public Enemy #13, Moonface Martin and his accomplice, Erma. With elaborate disguises, tap-dancing sailors and plot-twisting blackmail, Reno and Martin join forces to help Billy in his quest to win Hope’s heart.

Complete with amazing tap numbers, campy jokes, unlikely happy endings and songs like “Anything Goes,”  “De-Lovely” and “I Get a Kick Out Of You.” This production exemplifies classic musical theater.

Tickets are required to attend this production. Adult tickets: $15, senior citizens and non-C of O students: $13, and children: $10.  To make reservations, please call the Jones Theatre Department at (417) 690-2626.
