Academic Programs

Welcome to the Psychology department!  The focus of the Psychology department at College of the Ozarks is to prepare students to evaluate psychology concepts from a biblically informed Christian Worldview, to be intelligent consumers of research, and to possess pre-professional knowledge and skills. A balanced curriculum brings together the theoretical and practical dimensions of psychology through experiential courses and opportunities for community-based internships.

Major in Psychology

Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science

The Psychology department has both Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts programs available. In addition, a psychology minor is an option that complements numerous career fields. A list of required courses for the psychology majors or minor is available by visiting the College Catalog.

Objectives of the Psychology Program

The objectives for psychology majors are to:

  • Demonstrate a practical working knowledge of the science and profession of psychology,
  • Investigate psychological concepts in light of a biblically informed Christian worldview in order to more effectively serve Christ in a local and global community, and
  • Obtain a foundation in psychology sufficient for further professional training or graduate work in such fields as counseling, clinical psychology, public safety, social services, or school counseling.
