Bobcats Split on Saturday and Qualify for Conference Tournament

Bobcat BaseballThe Bobcats again took the field against York College on Saturday, April 26th, and split the afternoon.  The first game, which took place at noon , saw the Bobcats pick up their first win of the weekend.  The Bobcats were again swinging their bats, as they tallied 7 runs on 13 hits.  Cody Pentecost (pictured) was 3-4, Tyler Lopez and Cody Hull went 2-4, and Silas Bohannan was 2-5 with a homer and 3 RBI.  Senior Timmy Townsend picked up the win, going 8.1 innings with 6 strikeouts and allowing only 4 runs.  Jason Myer closed out the 7th earning a save. 

The final game of the series found York’s Brad Lindsley holding the Bobcats to only 3 hits to claim a 3-1 win.  C of O’s Cody Pentecost went 1-2, and Eddy Devora and Austin Schweiss picked up the remaining hits.  The Bobcats posed a threat in the 7th, but left runners on 2nd and 3rd when a strikeout ended the game.  Bobcat pitcher Alex Stephens went 6 innings, giving up 3 runs on 8 hits.

The Bobcats’ record now stands at 23-24 overall, 10-14 in MCAC play.  The Bobcats finish their regular season in 5th place in the Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference and will head to the conference tournament later this week.  They are scheduled to play the No. 4 seed, Central Baptist, at noon on Thursday at Oklahoma Wesleyan in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.
