Educational Testing


What is it? MoGEA (Missouri General Education Assessment) is an online exam required by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) that evaluates the knowledge and reasoning skills of teacher candidates in four subject areas: Reading Comprehension and Intepretation, Writing, Mathematics, and Science/Social Studies. Minimum passing scores for this exam are currently being established by the State Board of Education. Our institution cut scores will be set mid-December 2015 and will be retroactive to assessments taken after August 31, 2015.  September 1, 2016 final cut scores will be determined by DESE.

Passing scores on the MoGEA, combined with a 2.75 minimum cumulative GPA is required prior to admission to the College's Teacher Education Program.

When is it offered? The MoGEA exam is scheduled at College of the Ozarks' McKibben Center on the following dates:

  • Wednesday, September 17, 2015 - 4:30 pm
  • Thursday, October 15, 2015 - 4:30 pm
  • Wednesday, November 18, 2015 - 4:30 pm
  • Thursday, December 10, 2015 - 4:30 pm

How do I register? All registration will take place online at The full test is $49 and single test sections are $25 each. A test sitting fee is assessed for all non-College of the Ozarks students; this fee is paid at the testing site.

Missouri Content Assessment (MoCA)

What is it? The MoCA is designed to test a student’s knowledge in his/her subject area (exit exam). Each College of the Ozarks’ Education Major must pass the MoCA in their major area to be eligible for student teaching through College of the Ozarks and also to be eligible for Missouri teacher certification. Students are encouraged to take the MoCA the semester prior to their student teaching experience.

When is it offered?  College of the ozarks is not a testing center.  You can access locations and testing dates at under the TEST tab.

How do I register?
Registration for the MoCA is completed online at least five days in advance of the test date at  Cost varies per assessment.
