He also coached 31 years in high school at Fair Play, Osceola, Carrollton, Walnut Grove, Camdenton, Mount Vernon and Willard. During his nine previous seasons, he has been honored with five conference coach of the year awards. His teams have won seven Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships and advanced to the NAIA II National Tournament seven times. He has also coached seven All-Americans.
Many former players, both men and women, attended the game to honor Coach Wilson in a special ceremony immediately following the win. George and Sue Wilson were both presented with gifts from the team, Coach Waller, and the President of the College, Dr. Jerry Davis.
“Coaching has been a lot of fun through the years,” said Wilson. I really owe it to all the kids that played for me, (who are not kids anymore) for helping me get here.” |
