Meet Me In St. Louis

POINT LOOKOUT, MO. — The College of the Ozarks theatre and music students will perform a musical production of “Meet Me in St. Louis” on March 3, 4, and 7 at 7:30 p.m. and March 5 at 2:30 p.m. All performances will take place in the Jones Auditorium on the campus of College of the Ozarks.

Ticket prices are as follows: Adults $15, senior citizens $13, students (non C of O) $13, and children $10. To purchase tickets, call the theatre department at (417) 690-2626.

“I am honored to work with such a great cast who are truly bringing this musical to life,” said Director Annie Smith, adjunct instructor of theatre. “‘Meet Me in St. Louis’ is a treasure, a show that reflects what life was like for a family in 1903, awaiting the opening of the World’s Fair in St. Louis. This was a time before electric lighting was used outdoors, so as we’ve rehearsed, we’ve discovered the pleasures that families shared before technology came into our homes.”

Synopsis

Based on the heartwarming MGM film, “Meet Me in St. Louis” is a rare treasure in the musical theatre; a wholesome and delightful portrait of a turn-of-the-century American family. It is the summer of 1903, and the Smith family eagerly anticipates the opening of the 1904 World’s Fair. Over the course of a year, the family’s mutual respect, tempered with good-natured humor, helps them through romance, opportunity, and heartbreaks.
