Coach Vest has been busy scouting and recruiting over the past year, and her efforts are paying off in big ways. Following are some highlights on the recent additions to the Lady Bobcats' team for 2014-15:
Maison Bovard – Senior at Ava H.S.: Maison moved to Ava from Colorado in December of 2012 and has played for the Lady Bears since her arrival. The 5’11 center averaged 21.8 points per game, 10.8 rebounds per game, and 1.5 blocks per game. Maison is a strong and physical post player, who is fearless inside. The consistency she has demonstrated scoring and rebounding during her high school career will be a great benefit to the Lady ‘Cats as Maison transitions into college play.
Shelby Roberts – Senior at Bolivar H.S.: Bolivar guard (5’6) Shelby Roberts is a very stead and smart player. She is primarily a point guard and is averaging 12 ppg and 4 assists per game. Last season she was First Team COC and All-District. Her Bolivar team went 16-6 this season. Shelby has good instincts and is a good ball handler and shooter. In addition, she brings a positive, encouraging personality to the team.
Madison Wells – Senior at Nixa H.S.: Madison is a Nixa native. Under the direction of first year coach Jennifer Perryman, the 5’9 guard led the Nixa Lady Eagles to a second straight district championship this season. She was named to the COC All-Defensive team and garnered Academic All-State honors as well. She averaged nearly 7 points per game, 4 rebounds per game, and 2.1 steals per game. Typically, Madison played the role of defensive stopper – with the ability to guard virtually any position player.
Lakin Simmerman – Senior at Ash Grove H.S.: Back in October, Lakin signed her intent to play basketball with the Lady Bobcats. She is a 6'0 post player from Ash Grove High School. As a junior, Simmerman was All-District, 1st Team All-Conference, 1st Team All-State MBCA, and 2nd Team Sportswriters All-State. Lakin is a lefty with a soft touch. In addition to being very athletic, she is a smart player who will help the post play of the Lady Bobcats.
