C-BASE TESTING

What is it? College BASE (C-BASE) is an exam that evaluates your knowledge and reasoning skills in four subject areas: English, mathematics, science, and social studies. The C-BASE exam is designed to provide a fair assessment of your skills and knowledge. A minimum score of 235 on each section of the C-BASE exam combined with a 3.0 GPA, or a minimum score of 265 in three of the five sections and 235 in two sections combined with a 2.7 GPA is required prior to admission to the College's Teacher Education Program.

When is it offered? C-BASE tests are scheduled within windows designated by the state. The testing schedule for C-BASE testing at College of the Ozarks' McKibben Center is as follows:

  • Thursday, September 20, 2012 – 5:30 PM,
  • Thursday, November 29, 2012 – 5:30 PM,
  • Thursday, January 24, 2013 – 5:30 PM,
  • Saturday, March 16, 2013 – 8:00 AM.

How do I register? Students may register in the Education Office (1st floor McKibben Center) by completing a registration form and paying the test fee ($41-$45). Students from other colleges/universities may take the test at College of the Ozarks by contacting the Education Office at 417-690-2150 (or e-mail drapinchuk@cofo.edu).

PRAXIS TESTING

What is it? The Praxis II Specialty Area Subject exams are designed to test a student’s knowledge in their subject area (exit exam). Each College of the Ozarks’ Education Major must pass the Praxis II Specialty Area Subject exam in their major area to be eligible to student teach through College of the Ozarks and also to be eligible for Missouri teacher certification. Students are encouraged to take the Praxis exam the semester prior to their student teaching experience.

When is it offered? Praxis II exams will be offered at College of the Ozarks on the following dates:

  • Saturday, September 22, 2012,
  • Saturday, November 3, 2012,
  • Saturday, January 26, 2013,
  • Saturday, April 13, 2013.

How do I register?
Registration for the Praxis exam is completed on line at least one month in advance at www.ets.org/praxis. If you are a C of O student and encounter any problems or questions while registering, or if you are currently a student at another college/university but registering to take a test at C of O, you may contact the Education Office at 417-690-2150 for assistance.
