Beulah I. Winfrey Business Alumni Chapter 11/6/2010

President Cheryl Williams called the meeting to order at 11:05 a.m. Cheryl welcomed everyone to the meeting and encouraged those present to recruit new members. The Chapter approved the minutes of the November 6, 2009 meeting.

The Treasurer’s Report showed a balance of $3255.71 as of November 2009, dues collected of $100, for a new balance of $3355.71. With the donation of $500 to the Business Undergraduate Society last April and $168 for graduation honor cords for Sigma Beta Delta, the November 2010 balance is $2657.71.

The Business Undergraduate Society is planning a spring trip to an area metropolitan area. The BUS group expressed thanks to the Business Alumni Chapter for its recent financial support.

Rachel Mullinax presented the SIFE report. SIFE won at regionals last year and qualified for national competition.  New faculty member Lindon Newberry (2003 alumnus) is the primary sponsor for SIFE. The criteria for competition have been changed and there will be a reduced number of projects completed for this competition year.

Rex Mahlman gave an update on Sigma Beta Delta honor society. The Chapter costs for honor cords for the Spring 2010 graduation was $112.00.  Alumni member Travis McNail graciously agreed to fund the costs of those cords.

Officers for next year will be Cheryl Williams, President, moving up from Vice-President, Kevin Riley, Vice-President, moving up from Secretary/Treasurer, and Katy Cameron, Secretary/Treasurer, elected at this meeting.

President Williams once again encouraged membership in the Alumni Chapter and the current Chapter members discussed using social networking sites to better inform members of the business alumni about the Winfrey Business Alumni Chapter. The objective is to increase membership numbers.

The meeting was adjourned at 11:32 a.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Kevin Riley, Acting Secretary
