SUBJECT: CALL FOR PAINTINGS FOR WHITE RIVER PAINTING EXHIBIT

The Ralph Foster Museum will accept paintings for the White River Painting Exhibit Nov. 2 – 11, 2009. The Museum hosts this annual juried exhibit to honor the unique Ozarks heritage and to express the Museum’s mission of providing rich, learning experiences about the Ozarks culture through the arts. The White River Painting Exhibit and Sale will take place in the Museum’s Edwards Art Gallery Nov. 12 – Dec. 17.
Mr. Aaron W. Jones, public tour program coordinator of the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville, Ark., will serve as this year’s juror.
The first place painting will receive a $200 prize, second will receive $150, third $100 and $50 will be awarded for honorable mentions. The winners will be announced in the Awards Ceremony and Gallery Talk on Thursday Nov. 12 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Edwards Art Gallery. Following, there will be an open reception from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Edwards Art Gallery.
Artists from throughout the Ozarks region are invited to submit paintings that reflect their personal views of what is important to them about the Ozarks. Themes of paintings might reflect an artist’s impressions about the environment, the beauty of the region, history, family, fishing, agriculture, tourism, community, education, architecture, transportation or entertainment.
A limit of three paintings created within the past two years may be submitted at the Ralph Foster Museum from Nov. 2 – 11 (Monday – Saturday) from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The entry fee is $5 for one painting, $7.50 for two paintings and $10 for three paintings.
