Hello all! My name is Jachin Mann and I am a junior here at CofO. My major is Music Ministry and I have a Christian Ministry minor. A little about me: I am a certified lifeguard. I enjoy playing ultimate frisbee, soccer, basketball, and strategy games such as chess, Risk, and card games. In addition to those things my favorite TV series is Chuck, my favorite sandwich is roasted turkey, provolone, and tomatoes on wheat, and my favorite book is currently Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis. I also am very much into music—I sing, play piano and saxophone, and write songs. Above all of this, my passion is worshipping God—not just through music, but through my very life.

A little bit about me… I am a Junior majoring in Elementary Education and I am from a little town called Branson, MO!  Some of my favorite things are: Elephants, Coffee!!!, Sunsets, Crunchy Leaves, and Wal-Mart.  Some of my pet peeves are: my neighbor who has attached a lawn mower motor to his bicycle, when I’m out of coffee, and chicken fingers that are less than 3 inches… that is a nugget.  I really enjoy music, board games and drinking coffee!!!  My favorite TV show is Psych and my favorite food is Mexican, oh and I really like coffee ;)

John
hails from the wonderful land of witches and yellow-brick roads. Growing up in a family with five brothers and one sister, he has developed particular self-preservation skills that have assisted him in evading death for the past 20 years. John enjoys hunting vast varieties of woodland creatures and reading romantic poetry next to warm fires. John is a Philosophy and Religion major with an emphasis in veterinary medicine. John is also SO EXCITED about being your pop. He can’t wait to meet you and be a part of your college experience!

Joanna spent the first years of her life in an Amish region of Pennsylvania where she learned to make chicken potpie and avoid getting hit by buggies. She finds great joy in reading giant physiology and chemistry textbooks and is looking forward to a career in Nursing. Joanna cannot properly say the word “Thesaurus”, and she loves going out in blizzards with the hopes that she will meet the Abominable Snowman. Another interesting fact is that she has never been able to garner a love for Primates, no matter how “cute” they are. She is so excited about the upcoming fun- filled week and can’t wait to be yo momma!

Tony Long
is double majoring in math and computer science. He is a HUGE nerd! Sort of. He enjoys playing video games, absolutely hearts playing sports, and enjoys the wilderness. One could say he is a rather “round” fellow. He is originally from the depths of Los Angeles and has moved several times on his journey to arrive here. If he could be anything in the world, Tony would be a qualified aeronautical engineer expert.

Steffani Wood, tho her spailing is not @ a call-edge levle, she is an English major and a Christian Ministries minor. She loves to pet the moo moos (the proud dairy cows at CofO), walk in the woods, and climb the mountains by the lake. She also enjoys exploring abandoned houses and working hard on homework ALL the time (weird, I know)! If she could be anything in the world, Steffani would be a time traveler.

Short in stature but not in heart, he’ll be your friend from the start.  “Papa Phil”, the guy’s a thrill.  If you want a great Pop he’ll fill the bill.  Born and raised in Bolivar, MO, didn’t go very far, just to CofO.  Majoring in Elementary Education, he wants to work with kids in his occupation.  Sports, games, and recreation, is what he does on vacation.  With this pop you’ll never be bored, he’s so happy cuz’ he loves the Lord.

The coolest girl around, the best mom in this college town, is Emily Kate Joplin, who knows all about hip-hoppin’, cause she hails from Californ- I-A but gave it all up one day, to move to Branson, MO, and ya’ll better best know, that she’s an Early Childhood Education major, but she don’t got no pager, so if you wanna get in touch, you better know this much…she likes to live life, laugh, and run, all she ever really does is have lots of fun. She’s been known to tell all kinds of jokes, and life’s a game in which she never chokes. She’ll come through when the times are tough, and she’s got a boyfriend who’s really buff. Consider yourself lucky if this girl’s your mom, cause if she is, Character Camp is gonna be the bomb!

I am majoring in Early Childhood Education.  My ambition is to teach kindergarten, perhaps because my mindset is quite similar to theirs, as you will find.  I enjoy spending time in my Bible, talking to my parents, The Beatles, and doing as many ridiculous things as I can with your father. As your mom I hope to enrich your experience here at the college, as well as make those first days in a new environment a little less uncomfortable.  I’m here to help you in anyway I can.  We are going to have lots and lots of fun!

Jared English
is a student at CofO who loves doing almost any activity outdoors, especially if it has to do with riding bikes. His bike is a 35 year old craigslist find... gotta love those. Midnight bike rides are essential to college life for Jared. He grew up in a small town called Steelville, MO where most people know each other. He loves the fact that CofO is a community of students much like that, where everyone knows everyone. He is a Graphic Arts major and really enjoys his time here at CofO doing that. He thinks that one good piece of advice for incoming students would be to... PREPARE FOR THE TIME OF YOUR LIFE!!! (and to bring your bike...)

Jill De Haan hails from… well, all over. She was born in the Midwest, but moved to the mission field of Albania a few years later. After spending ten years overseas, Jill now calls Hershey, Pennsylvania “home.”  (In case you were wondering, yes, that is where they make the chocolate.)  As a sophomore nursing student, Jill usually stays busy with homework. But even with all that studying, she always finds time to have plenty of fun! Jill enjoys cooking delicious foods, getting great deals at thrift stores, relaxing with friends, and riding around campus with her road bike gang. She’s looking forward to meeting all of the new students this fall as they start a new and exciting part of life here at College of the Ozarks!

Amanda Moudy
and Kyle Minton met at Character Camp in Spring 2008. Kyle loved Amanda’s different laugh and sneezes. Amanda loved Kyle’s crazy randomness. They instantly became best friends. They do not necessarily like long walks on the beach, but they do both love some good music and hanging out with some good friends. Amanda’s favorite thing about Kyle is his amazing music talent and all of the heart-to-hearts that they have together. Kyle’s favorite thing about Amanda is that she is easy to talk to and to open up to because she is truth worthy. Amanda’s favorite Elementary Education class was Art Methods. Kyle’s favorite Religion and Philosophy class was Teachings of Jesus. They are both super excited to be Character Camp parents!
